With our classes on cooking, nutrition and sustainable food systems,
and our trips to farms and markets where healthy food is being grown and sold,
we convince people to start eating healthier food.
What is healthy food?
It’s really quite simple.
The healthiest foods are fresh, locally grown, minimally processed foods, like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein.
We call these whole foods.
They give our bodies (and minds) what they need to stay healthy.
We’re realists though.
We know processed, packaged foods have become a mainstay in the American diet.
So we also talk about finding and affording healthier processed foods.
We assure our students:
Every time you choose just to eat just one healthier, whole or processed food, you make a difference in your health, and the health of the food system.
